Starbucks Tazo Tea Chai Latte

  • About...
  • Starbucks Tazo® Tea Chai Latte is prepared with equal parts of
Tazo® Tea mixture and whatever milk you prefer,
topped with whipped cream & spices...

  • Chai tea is a spicy tea made with milk which originates from India...

  • The Tazo® Tea concentrate is a prepared mixture of brewed chai tea WITH sweetener
(although the Organic version contains NO artificial sweeteners).

  • Chai tea itself is black tea made with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.
(The sweetener usually consists of honey).

  • Equal amount (half of what you prepare) of your choice of milk:
    I use Lactaid® Calcium Enriched milk (it's fat-free).

  • McCormick® Chai Spice topping:
In addition to ground (dry) ingredients of chai tea

  • Aerolatte® (for stirring):
This is useful for many beverages...and they run on 2-AA batteries!
...and it is an excellent tool for frothing (without using an espresso machine!)
These used to only be purchased at cookware stores for $15+tax:
    Williams-Sonoma®, Le Gourmet Chef®, Kitchen Capers® etc.
...but now can be purchased at Wal*Mart, Target, etc. for under $5!

    Aerolatte

  • I recommend heating the Tazo® Chai Tea concentrate in a microwave...
...total prep time for this (including cleaning) should be under 5 minutes!

Espresso Heart

    Preparation:
  • If using a travel tumbler, do not place in microwave! (Use a mug for heating)

  • Don't forget: Equal parts of milk and chai tea concentrate = total serving amount!
    (e.g., Grande = 16 oz. = 8 oz. of chai tea concentrate + 8 oz. of milk)

  • Using the measuring cup, pour the Tazo® Chai Tea concentrate into a microwaveable mug...

  • Now, quickly rinse the measuring cup and pour the milk into the measuring cup
    (no need for another mug).

  • Place both the mug (with chai tea in it) and the measuring cup
(with milk in it) in the microwave...

  • I recommend heating on high (uncovered) for 2 minutes.

  • Next, pour approx. 2/3 of the milk into the mug with the chai tea,
and, using the Aerolatte®, mix until it becomes frothy...
If you plan on using a travel tumbler, now would be the time to transfer!

  • Again, using the Aerolatte®, stir the remaining milk until it is all frothy...
FYI: The Aerolatte® can be cleaned by rinsing the top half under warm water & wiping dry.

  • ...this can now be added to the top of what is in your mug (or tumbler).

  • Apply the Reddi-Wip® and/or sprinkle some of the McCormick® Chai Spice on top...

  • ...and serve by placing on the counter and shouting out:
"Grande non-fat chai latte with whip for (Neil)!"

  • The Aerolatte® can be washed by rinsing the top half under warm water and wiping dry...
