Tazo Chai Frappuccino Blended Creme

  • About...
  • Tazo® Chai Frappuccino Blended Créme is prepared with equal parts:
Crushed ice, Tazo® Chai concentrate and whatever milk you prefer,
topped with whipped cream & spices...

  • Chai tea is a spicy tea made with milk which originates from India...

  • The Tazo® Tea concentrate is a prepared mixture of brewed chai tea WITH sweetener
(although the Organic version contains NO artificial sweeteners).

  • Chai tea itself is black tea made with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.
(The sweetener usually consists of honey).

  • Ingredients & Equipment:
  • Remember that a Starbucks® Tall is 12 oz., a Grande is 16 oz. and a Venti is 20 oz.
but a frappuccino adds 4 oz. for the crushed ice and room on top for the whipped créme.

  • Starbucks Tazo® Chai Tea concentrate:
This can be purchased at Starbucks, most grocery stores, and also at:

    Tazo Chai Tea Concentrate

  • Equal amount (1/3 of what you prepare) of your choice of milk:
    I use Lactaid® Calcium Enriched milk (it's fat-free).

  • Whipped cream topping: I use Reddi-Wip® (it's fat-free)

  • McCormick® Chai Spice Blend:
In addition to ground (dry) ingredients of chai tea (minus the black tea & sweetener),
you can substitute by topping with either cinnamon and/or nutmeg.

  • I recommend visiting Starbucks Store to purchase an appropriate container for cold beverages
    (that won't condensate):

The lid can be purchased at most Starbucks® for approx. $2.95 + tax...
...this is obviously for the added space for the whipped topping.

  • Measuring cup

    Measuring cup

  • Equal parts (1/3 of the serving amount) of crushed ice:
(I use the crushed ice dispenser from my refrigerator)

    Crushed Ice

  • Aerolatte® (for stirring):
This is useful for many beverages...and they run on 2-AA batteries!
...and it is an excellent tool for frothing (without using an espresso machine!)
These used to only be purchased at cookware stores for $15+tax:
    Williams-Sonoma®, Le Gourmet Chef®, Kitchen Capers® etc.
...but now can be purchased at Wal*Mart, Target, etc. for under $5!

Aerolatte

  • Total prep time for this should be under 5 minutes!

Chai Frappuccino

  • Preparation:

  • Don't forget: Equal parts of crushed ice, milk and chai tea concentrate = total serving amount!

  • For example, to make a Grande frappuccino (16 oz.), use measuring cup to:

  • Add 2/3 cup (approx. 5 oz. each) of crushed ice to the frappuccino container...

  • ...now put 2/3 cup of the milk in the measuring cup...

  • ...and add 2/3 cup of the Tazo® Chai concentrate to the milk in the measuring cup.

  • Mix with Aerolatte® for approx. 10-12 seconds...

  • ...then pour in the frappuccino container.
FYI, the Aerolatte® can be cleaned by rinsing the upper half under warm water & wiping dry.

  • You now have approx. 15 oz. of blended Chai frappuccino...

  • Add at least 1 oz. of the whipped topping (to make it a Chai Créme Frappuccino)

  • ...and sprinkle some of the McCormick® Chai Spice Blend on top...

  • Finally, put the dome-shaped lid on (with straw inside) and enjoy!

  • Serve by placing on the counter and shouting out:
"Grande non-fat chai créme frappuccino with whip for (Neil)!"
