Garlic Bread w/cheese

  • Ingredients:
  • 2 sub buns (FRESH = SOFT!)

    Sub buns

  • 8 oz. package of Kraft® Italian Blend Finely-Shredded Cheese (optional)

    Italian-blend Finely-shredded cheese

  • McCormick® Garlic Powder:

    Garlic Powder

  • Oregano:

    Oregano

  • My 'secret' ingredient:
Papa John's® Garlic Butter sauce (you will need 3 for this recipe)

    Papa Johns Garlic Butter sauce

Note: You can buy these at any Papa John's®
and as each container is 1 oz. (and you need 3 for this recipe),
You can substitute by using 2 oz. vegetable oil, 1 oz. water,
¼ teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon garlic powder & mix WELL...

  • This recipe serves 2 slices each to two people & takes approx. 15 min. to prepare...

  • Preparation:

  • Preheat your oven to 375° Fahrenheit & place your oven mits & pot holders on the counter...

  • Cover a pizza pan (or flat sheet pan) w/aluminum foil & spray w/non-stick vegetable oil
    (I use Pam®)

  • Hint: Buy the softest rolls THAT DAY or store in a bag (in refrigerator) until ready...
cut each roll in half (horizontally)

  • Shake each of the Papa John's® garlic butter containers and then remove the lids...

  • Using a marinade brush, evenly coat each slice of bread:
Use just half of a container per slice and you will only use 2,
then finish the edges using the 3rd container to 'finish' all 4 slices...

  • Dust the surface of each slice with the garlic powder...

  • Now sprinkle some oregano onto each slice:

    Garlic sauce

  • Use only half the (8 oz.) bag of cheese--approx. 1 oz. per slice:

    Garlic slices

  • Your oven should be ready...
place in the oven on center rack for 5-10 minutes
(just until all the cheese is fully melted).

  • Remove from oven...
You can cut these (vertically) into thin 'strips' (using a bread knife_
and then serve in a basket w/warm marinara sauce:
